I will state up front that I feel that politicians who banned the so-called "choke hold" are idiot sticks and clearly never had to contend with controlling a person out of his mind on drugs and/or alcohol or who is a violent criminal intent on resisting arrest. I would argue that a trained police officer who executes this move will better protect himself and the perp as the struggle will be minimized.
